Parents and Teens,
Here is a basic “run-down” of what we are doing to successfully make Life Nights this year both SAFE and FUN.

OUR LIFE NIGHT IS : Sunday February 28th - 5:30pm to 7:00 pm at Holy Redeemer outside of Healy Hall.

What to bring:
  1. Bring a MASK. We are wearing masks at ALL TIMES*.
  2. Bring a jacket and warm clothing (we will be outside)
  3. Bring a blanket or foldable chair to sit on (preferably a beach chair or a lower seated chair so you don’t block the view of others)
  4. Bring bug spray

What not bring:
  1. Any symptoms of COVID 19 (if you have any please stay home) which includes:
    1. Cough
    2. Fever
    3. Nausea
    4. Diarrhea
    5. Headaches
    6. Trouble breathing/shortness of breath

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS:
  1. We will be performing temperature checks before you enter Healy Hall.
  2. There will be marked indicators outside for check-in and outside during the Life Night to ensure social distancing at all times. (We have 6 dedicated adult CORE members to make this continues throughout the night)
  3. Masks will be worn at all times (covering nose and mouth).*
  4. Our event will be outside on the field behind Healy Hall @ HR with social distance indicators on the field.
  5. If you opt for your teen to have a meal** while there, then we will be pre-packing food in individual “to-go” containers that will be prepared by a food service industry professional.
  6. For contact tracing purposes, you MUST RSVP in order to attend the Life Night. We will provide a link for you to do so.

*With the exception of eating. Which will be done when teens are sitting on the field physically distant from each other.

**Meals will only be served to teens who pre-order it when they RSVP. Due to budget constraints, meals will be $5.15 each this year. You will be able to purchase this when RSVPing for the Life Night.

Hello parents and teens,

I am grateful that we get to start this journey toward the Sacrament of Confirmation together. We are living in a season that has been unpredictable and sometimes disheartening. I do not know the hardships that you may have endured during this time but I will continue to pray for you as you are a part of this Parish Community of HRSJ.

We have an opportunity to hold on to the hope that was promised to us. We have an opportunity right now to step closer to God then we ever thought imaginable. Now is the time to look to each other and pray together in confidence remembering that we are all unconditionally loved by our God.

We will begin our journey together, parents and teens, on
  • Saturday October 3rd at 6:00pm.

We will meet together virtually (zoom) in order to discuss the logistics of the next two years and how it will afford you an opportunity to grow in faith and grow closer together as a household.

Please look for the ZOOM link 30 minutes prior to our meeting on Saturday night.

There will be pertinent info discussed so please be ready!

ALSO, if you know of anyone who has not yet registered please forward them this link do they can join us on this journey!

Confirmation 2020

7/24/2020

IParents and Teens,

We have officially been approved to celebrate the Rite of Confirmation
We will celebrate two separate Rites, divided in half, alphabetically.

DATE:
August 7th and 8th.
 .
  • If your last name begins with the letters A-M you will celebrate your Rite of Confirmation Aug. 7th.

  • If your last name begins with the letters N-Z  you will celebrate your Rite of Confirmation Aug. 8th.

LOCATION:
The front lawn of St. James Church.

TIME:
We proposed a 7PM start time on August 7th
and a 10AM start time on August 8th.
I have surveyed the field along with Fr. Mike and Sister Karen. The sun is not forgiving during those times and shade is hard to come by. We are currently evaluating if a time change would be best for all of our attendees.

HOW MANY CAN ATTEND PER FAMILY?:
We are limited to 100 attendees at each Confirmation Mass.
This would allow you to have an average of 4 family members + confirmation sponsor and teen to attend the Mass. 6 people per household total.

ALTERNATIVE OPTION:

I have consulted with many other Youth Ministers and Confirmation Coordinators from all over Los Angeles. *Most Confirmation Coordinators surveyed parents to see if they would be willing to postpone the Rite of Confirmation for their teens and wait until the Rite can be celebrated inside of a church (limited attendance still applied).  I will now offer you the same option.

Below is a link to a quick Doodle poll that will determine how we will move forward.

As soon as I garner enough responses I will follow up with more info.
